In pictures: 2007 without a haircut

December 29th, 2007. Filed under: Pictures

It is now nearly a full year since I last had a haircut. As the new year approaches, I look back to see how my hair have grown to the way it is now. Come take this journey with me.

*Warning: the following contains pictures of me. Those who are narcissism-intolerant should proceed with discretion*

January: The night of my departure. Fresh week-old haircut.
February: Nevermind the sword.
March: Snapshot of video in Washington DC.
April: At the International Festival.
May: Snapshot of video.
June & July: I had a full-time internship, so no camera moments.
August: In Chicago.
September: My birthday get-together.
October & November: No good photos of me.
December: The rare good hair day.

Note: I trimmed the back of my hair about 5 times throughout the year, with nothing but a metal ruler and a pair of conventional scissors.

Growing my hair has always been what I wanted to do since I was 16. The year after high school, 2005, was the year of discovery. My attempt back then was awkward, enlightening, and liberating at the same time. But I was still inexperienced in those days (geez its like I’m talking about sex).

My second attempt which is 2007 faired a little better. My hair behaves like a rebellious teenager but I’m learning to discipline it. I got this far and I want my hair to fall to my neck, like I’ve always wanted.

Now for the big question: should I keep going or should I finally get a haircut?

Its hard to see my dreams shatter, but I have the feeling that my hair texture may be unsuitable. On the other hand, David Bowie and Bono makes my target hairstyle look awesomefantabuloustic.

So what do you guys think? Should I cut, leave or style?

  6. It looks way hotter long. I can’t think of a polite way to say what I think of it short. So just count me as one more vote for long.

  7. Hold on… let me change that. Way short is ok. January through March were ok. Then it was just not good until August. August & beyond were hot. So see? Hot is better than ok, but yeah, super short is ok. My advice? Maintain it at the Decenber length.
