Anime I recommend: Gurren Lagann
July 12th, 2007. Filed under: ArticlesTheres a brand new anime in town, all otakus listen up.
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, premiered April 2007 is a comedic mecha adventure to remember. It may look a little silly compared to some other popular anime, but I’d like to state why its one of my top favorites.

1. The fast pace
Things happen constantly, and important pieces of the plot occur or spoken every two minutes. This means more content in less time, thats quality right there. The story moves along fast, unlike Naruto which painfully takes its time.
2. The end in sight
Anyone who digs the internet just a little bit will find out when the season will end. We know that it will go somewhere, and will finish. Whereas anime like Bleach and One Piece seem to go on and on, diluting its integrity. FuriKuri was only six episodes but it went straight to my personal top three.
3. Direction
Good direction, which wraps up a lot about it in addition to the first two things. Eg: it doesn’t waste time explaining what the heck is going on, it doesn’t conform to typical measures, and so far in 15 episodes I can only find 10 minutes of filler. Oh, and high production values too.
4. Epic!
The proportions of the story just gets bigger and bigger, as we see one boy’s journey to destiny. (No prophecies are involved, I hate prophecies in fictional works). More to look forward to in the next episode.
5. Yoko
There, I said it. Though admittedly I find that she has no personality.
Thats my verdict thus far. Gainax rules. I want to mention that I don’t watch mecha anime, this is the only one that grabs my attention. Watch it in dailymotion.com. Enjoy.
Meh, Yoko as in the composer Yoko Kanno? Or just any ol’ Yoko?
