• McAfee vs. Norton; my simple verdict

July 10th, 2006. Filed under: Technology

Have you ever had a dilemma choosing between Anti-virus programs McAfee and Norton? Ever wondered the difference between the two and finding yourself choosing between Coke and Pepsi while you’re at it? Does the choice make a difference since you’re gonna download it for free anyway? You sneaky Malaysians, you.

Both are Anti-virus giants and both have good record of doing their job. But I have a personal preference and I want to share it with all of you. I choose:

    Norton Antivirus

Why? Simply because McAfee dramatically increases CPU Usage, slowing down your computer. There will be a process named McShield.exe and it will take about 60 CPU. Of course, it will only occur given the right circumstances and could possibly be fixed, but to make life simpler, use Norton.

Sorry McAfee, no hard feelings. But you’re lagging my videos.

P/S: Don’t ask how I got to try both of them out.

    1. both are just the same memory hunger application…use other alternatives such as nod32,avg etc…for me, nod32 the best…

    2. I’m only speaking from experience, that’s all. If you’d prefer one over the other for your own reasons its totally fine…
