If you have seen Gorillaz’s latest music video, you’ll witness Noodle crashing down with his windmill island. Remember the windmill in Feel Good Inc.? Yeah thats the one. If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t bother downloading it via torrents, search “El Manana” on Youtube.
People are actually debating whether Noodle is actually dead or not. Well yeah, she’s not real but the creators can decide to kill off character, can’t they? This is even documented on Wikipedia, where you can find out more. It’s really weird; if you go to Gorillaz.com you will find that Noodle’s room is empty. Eerie.
You may think that this is just a publicity stunt. But I am awed by the creativity of this whole thing. It was like it was all planned upon the release of their latest album Demon Days. Just when the heat of their popularity die down a bit, they release that music video and stir some controversy.
I think the story hasn’t ended. If El Manana was a song referring to things gone, I’d think that Fire Coming Out of A Monkey’s Head and Don’t Get Lost In Heaven will see the continuation of Noodle’s experience. Just guessing.
